Watsonville city leaders are abandoning a plan that would include asking lawmakers for their help in placing The Manabe-Ow property in the Watsonville 2000 Redevelopment Plan. City officials say the plan was put on hold after Governor Jerry Brown announced plans to suspend redevelopment funding, funding he says he would rather see put towards schools, counties and cities that are facing financial struggles. The plan, however, will be considered again if redevelopment funds become available.
