The California Transportation Commission voted this week to provide funding for Santa Cruz County to purchase 32 miles of Rail line. The commission voted 10 to 1 on Wednesday to grant 14.2 million dollars for the county to purchase the line that is slated to run from Watsonville to Davenport. Santa Cruz County, however, must still come up with another $250,000 before the deal is finalized. The county has signed a 3-year deal with Sierra Northern to operate a passenger train that will include a coastal dinner train, haul freight and perform maintenance.
