A 56-year-old woman died after being hit by a vehicle in Salinas on Friday. Simona Fletes-Ocon was struck at 5:40 p.m., as she crossed Williams Road, at Quilla Street. Police believe 73-year-old Rod Osoteo was the driver that hit her…he was questioned away from the scene. The case is being forwarded to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, where a decision will be made on whether to charge Osoteo with a crime. Fletes-Ocon, (who was crossing in a cross-walk), was pronounced dead after being taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
