One of two men involved in a shooting with Salinas police officers over 2 weeks ago, appeared in court for the first time today. Police say 32-year old Nicholas Martinez pulled a handgun on officers during a traffic stop on the 1000 block of East Laurel Drive and fired multiple rounds at officers before being critically wounded by return fire. Martinez was released from an area hospital and is being held at the Monterey County Jail on Charges of attempted murder.
