FOOD BANK FOR MCO SEEKS 30K IN HELP 12-22-10 07:00 a.v.

The Food Bank for Monterey County is still below it’s holiday food drive donation goal. As of yesterday, the Food Bank was short $30,000. A record setting demand of nearly 10,000 plastic bags containing rice, beans and canned goods are said to be distributed this month in the county through the nonprofit’s emergency food assistance program. Officials say that number is expected to climb past the 10,000 mark for January and February. Salinas Mayor Dennis Donahue reminded residents this week that donations can be made at the Food Bank located on West Market Street in Salinas.
