ASIAN CITRUS PSYLLID – QUARANTINE 12/21/10 08:51 S.S.

A  QUARANTINE   WAS  TRIGGERED  AFTER  A citrus-destroying  pest  WAS  found  in  Ventura  CountY.     The  adult  Asian  citrus  psyllid,   which  is smaller than  a  grain  of  rice,   was  found  in  a  trap  in  the coastal TOWN  of La Conchita.     Inspectors  are  NOW  working  to  determine  the  extent  of  the infestation.    Ventura County has   24  THOUSAND acres  of  commercial  citrus.

 

Earlier  this  month,  THE  Discovery  of   the  Asian citrus  psyllid in  San  Bernardino County led  to pesticide  treatments  in  the  Montclair and  Upland areas.
