During a 6-to-1 vote made last night , Gilroy council members gave the go-ahead to approve funding for studies on the high speed rail line. City officials say the $150,000 will be put towards document reviews and grants to support the project, which is expected to roll into the city 2020. Council members say last night’s decision will allow the city to investigate the plan further and allow them to apply for 2 transportation grants, meanwhile, some residents say the studies are a waste of time when cities are struggling around the state right now.
