The state today approved a controversial fumigant to replace a so-called ozone-depleting pesticide for Strawberry production. Despite A statewide protest, cancer causing problems have been cited with the fumigant, Methyl Iodide, which is slated to replace the pesticide Methyl Bromide as an alternative to killing bugs, weeds and disease. The state department of Pesticide Regulation, beginning today, will register Methyl Iodide as a substitute for Methyl Bromide.
