Nominations are being sought for the 3rd annual Tony Hill Award. Hill was a well-known community activist who was known as a gifted mentor, inspirational leader, a gifted mediator, and one who in general brought people together. The award is given yearly to a person who demonstrates similar qualities. Previous awardees have been Watsonville mayor Luis Alejo, and Santa Cruz city councilmember Ryan Coonerty.
Nominations will be accepted through the end of december, and the new award is expected to be presented to this years honoree at the 27th annual Martin Luther King junior Convocation in Santa Cruz on January 31st.
