The improvised Thanksgiving event regularly held at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Santa Cruz, was a success yesterday, after the meal nearly didn’t happen. After the closure of the Vets’ building on Front street, the charity meal was in danger of not being held. However volunteers formed the “Friends of Thanksgiving” group 4-weeks ago, and secured the Civic Auditorium as a venue. More than 3-hundred volunteers helped put on the event, and served more than 1-thousand Thanksgiving meals.
