he hospice Foundation announced that $963,000 in grants to 11 local non-profits have been given for funding hospice and other end-of-life care programs for adults and children, grief support services, and advocacy. Some of the 2011 award winners include Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, in San Benito County, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, A collaborative grant for Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services, Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition/Partnership for Children, and Coastal Kids Home Care, the Central Coast Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice and Central Coast HIV/AIDS Services.
