COASTAL COMMISSION MTG. IN S.C. 11-17-10 12:0 a.v.

A meeting tomorrow between the state Coastal Commission and the City of Santa Cruz, is expected to revisit the city’s Arana Gulch development plans along with temporarily allowing dredging to continue at the harbor. The Santa Cruz Port District is expected to ask for a 6-month extension on a 5-year dredging permit, which expired in October. The commission is also expected to grant a request from the City of Santa Cruz to forgo the 6-month waiting period required before re-proposing a project. The city’s plan to build twin bike paths through the 68-acre Arana Gulch was rejected last month on a vote of 5-to-5, and a waiver request has been submitted by Santa Cruz County supervisor, Commissioner Mark Stone.
