A team of local historians has been assembled in the city of Salinas to chase federal and state money to restore and preserve the city’s historic buildings. The formation of the Salinas Historic Resources Board was approved at the city council meeting on Tuesday. The team includes local historians, architects, designers and other professionals. The creation of this board is the first step in obtaining “certified local government” status for the city, which would allow the city to apply for grants through the state Office of Historic Preservation.
