RISPIN MANSION DEMOLITION PLANS PROGRESS 11-11-10 19:50 a.v.

Capitola City Council members voted this week to demolish a historic building that has been in city possession since 1984. A decision to move forward with the demolition plan of the Rispin Mansion was made since several options on how the structure could be re-used, were shot down. Concerns include costs of a proposed hotel project, opening the property up to public use and maintaining and keeping the mansion free from graffiti and other reported nuisances. City staff is expected to look into the demolition cost and process, while also preparing for a required California Environmental Quality Act Report.
