CARMEL RIVER FATAL WATER RESCUE 10-26-10 16:00 a.v.
One of 2 women, who were visiting from Europe, died yesterday afternoon after being pulled from the water off a Carmel beach. The women, who were in their 60’s, were on Carmel River State Beach at around 3:15 p.m., when a wave came ashore and knocked them both into the water. One of the victims was rescued within 30 minutes and as of last night, was listed in good condition. The 2nd woman, who has been identified as Ann Hauffe, of West Sussex, England, was pulled out of the water 90 minutes later but did not survive.
