A Salinas youth program targeted at keeping youth off the streets, was awarded a $5,000 donation this week. The program, “Strengthening Families” helps dysfunctional families and the newly acquired funding is expected to expand their resources and be used to train other organizations to work with teens so they can reach out to more kids in the city. The 5-year old program is said to have reduced delinquent behavior by 30-to-60%, lowered levels of aggression and improved parenting skills.
