2-people have been arrested in scotts valley, for allegedly growing and selling marijuana. The investigation began when a woman attempted to send a suspicious-looking package across state lines. Store employees opened the package, which contained 1-pound of marijuana, and they contacted police. Officers located and arrested 36-year-old Eva Marie Lyons. They say she told them about a marijuana grow-operation in the Santa Cruz mountains, and police searched the property. They located 7-pounds of marijuana packaged and ready for sale, as well as 5 additional pounds of cut marijuana. Police arrested the property owner at the station, alleging that 33-year-old Jamie Andrew Merritt participated in the operation. He is charged with conspiracy, as well as cultivation and sales of marijuana.
