SVMH NEW BUYOUT PLAN 10-13-10 11:00 a.v.

Union workers at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital have until the end of this week to accept voluntary buyouts being offered as part of a cost-cutting move. The offers, which were sent out last week to hundreds of employees represented by 3 unions, includes pay and benefits above the usual severance package, and follows an earlier buyout package offered to 135 employees in July in an effort to save 4-million dollars. The new plan calls for eliminating 165 positions in an effort to save up to 7-million dollars.
