SALINAS OKS ENTERPRISE ZONE EXPANSION 10-13-10 10:30 a.v.

Salinas City Council members unanimously approved a proposal this week to expand the Salinas Valley Enterprise Zone. The new zone, which currently includes the cities of Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield and King City, is looking to expand north by including the Castroville Industrial Park. The move, if approved by the state, would affect about 70-businesses, already located within the industrial park, along with the new ones. Cities in an enterprise zone receive special incentives to businesses such as tax credits on sales, and more. Salinas Valley is one of 42 enterprise zones in the state.
