A grant has been awarded that will help the Santa Cruz METRO Bus Fleet move closer to being 100 percent green. The 4.8 million dollar grant comes from the Federal Transit Administration’s “State of Good Repair” program. The Santa Cruz METRO will use the grant to replace 12 diesel buses with buses that run on natural gas. Of its fleet of 93 buses, about a dozen diesel buses remain, which will be used mostly as backup for the natural gas fleet.
