S.C. HALLOWEEN BUDGET INCREASED 09-29-10 11:00 a.v.

In an effort to reduce violence this year, Santa Cruz City council members approved extra funding to increase public safety on Halloween. The unanimous vote yesterday makes $60,000 available this year compared to the $40,000 utilized last year. The extra $20,000 will be given to the California Highway Patrol, who will be charging for it’s services this year for providing it’s officers as backup. Last year, 64 arrests were made and over 50-citations were issued, mostly related to alcohol use.
