FEMA DENIES CA. FEDERAL RELIEF FUNDS 09-28-10 16:00 a.v.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied California’s request for federal disaster aid to help victims of a September 9th pipeline explosion that occurred in the city of San Bruno. The state’s request for millions of dollars in disaster relief funds was turned down Friday after FEMA was asked for help nearly 2 weeks ago. FEMA, however is expected to reimburse California up to 75% of the firefighting expenses for the blast. A FEMA spokesperson says recovery costs for the ruptured pipeline should come from state and local governments along with Pacific Gas and Electric, the owner of the pipeline.
