HOLLISTER OPPOSES STATE POT PROP. 09-27-10 11:10 a.v.

Hollister city council members approved a decision to formally oppose the state proposition that would legalize recreational marijuana use. Council members voted 4-to-0 to oppose Proposition 19. The vote comes after the city already has it’s own ordinance banning medical marijuana dispensaries and is also undergoing a legal battle with the owner of Purple Cross R-X, a shop which opened downtown and is now a delivery-only service. The initiative on the November ballot calls for legalization of marijuana use beyond the state law, which already allows medical pot consumption.
