A Spare-the-Air day alert has been issued today for the San Francisco Bay Area. According to a spokesperson with the Air-Quality Management District, today’s smog alert is the 3rd consecutive and the 8th for the summer season. Officials recommend that people rethink their commute today and carpool or use public transit services instead. The air district monitors daily air pollution levels and produces air quality forecasts every day based on an index developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
