Santa Cruz County investigators are calling a shooting that killed 2 people in Santa Cruz last night a murder-suicide. Upon receiving a domestic disturbance report at around 11:15 p.m, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Soquel home in the area of Lucca Lane and Soquel Drive and discovered 2 victims with gunshot wounds lying on the ground. One of the victims, identified as 61-year old James Baum was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim, 54-year old Gayle Mozee-Baum was alive at the scene but unresponsive, she was taken to Dominican Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The weapon was recovered at the scene.
