Arrest, Drug sales 09/19/10 TDH
The Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Office announced over the weekend that deputies arrested a convicted child-molester on Friday at Cowell’s Beach. 60-year-old Jack Steven Sobonya was reported to authorities after beach-goers became concerned that he was acting inappropriately, and possibly selling drugs. Sheriff’s deputies took him into custody for selling marijuana, and sales of a controlled substance. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail with bail set at 1-hundred-thousand dollars. Sobonya is a registered sex offender, and lists his address with the Santa Cruz Police Department as “transient.”
