UTILITY TAX WAIVED FOR S.C. SENIORS 09-17-10 08:00 a.v.

A first time waiver for senior citizens was created this week by the Santa Cruz city council to help increase the exemption for low-income residents from the utility users tax. The council approved exempting the first $100 in monthly gas and electric bills for participants in P-G-and-E’s low-income program, as well as residents who are 65 years of age or older. The current rules have no senior waiver, but do exempt low-income users for the first $34 of combined gas and power bills.
