A 21-year old Salinas man was sentenced to spend 14-years in jail for a drive-by gang related shooting that occurred last year. Ivan Sandoval pled no contest to one count of assault with a semi-automatic weapon and admitted to a gang enhancement charge for the May 16th crime. Sandoval, who was the driver in the incident, pulled up along side a car containing 5-young people in the area of North Main Street and Iris Drive, when the passenger in the car with Sandoval opened fire on the victim’s car, striking the driver. The victim survived multiple gun shot wounds.
