A bill is now awaiting the Governor’s signature, which would change the date that children are eligible to enroll in kindergarten. Currently children must be 5-years-old by December 2nd to start kindergarten. The bill, which has been approved by both houses of the state legislature, would move the cut-off date up to September 1st. The change would be made gradually, with it going to November 1st in 2012, October 1st in 2013, and then September 1st in 2014.
