Watsonville city officials gathered yesterday to celebrate the official opening of a new downtown parking lot. The new 29-space lot, located on the corner of Main and East 5th Streets, was formerly an used vacant lot owned by local residents. The project, which cost the city $50,000 to develop, is part of a larger effort to clean-up the downtown area and utilize vacant space. Two other vacant lots on Main Street have been turned into parks.
