LOCAL AIRPORTS AWARDED FAA GRANTS 08-30-10 8:00 a.v.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued Grants to local airports for safety improvements. Congressman Sam Farr, who announced the grant recipients Friday, believes that a smooth transportation system is vital to our economic growth, and the grants will improve and extend the life of our local airports. The Monterey Peninsula Airport is slated to receive $2,361,413 to improve runway safety, which will include building a retaining wall and access road, the Salinas Municipal Airport is slated to receive $2,115,000 to reconstruct a taxiway, meanwhile the Mesa Del Rey Airport is set to receive $484,750 while the Watsonville Municipal Airport was honored with $52,250, and $30,000 will be awarded to the Hollister Municipal Airport.
