A man suspected of elder abuse is being sought after a Santa Cruz bank teller averted a theft this week. A 90-year old woman requested a large sum of money be withdrawn from her bank claiming that a man came to her home Tuesday showing her a badge saying she needed to pay a bond associated with an accident she had a few weeks prior. The woman, who thought the man was a police officer, rode with him to the bank on River Street. The teller alerted police and the man with the badge was no longer in the woman’s vehicle when officers arrived.
