A Salinas Convalescent home was the scene of a fire scare this morning. Over a dozen firefighters and 5 fire engines responded to the Windsor Gardens Rehabilitation Center on Romy Lane at around 9:30 a.m. A heating system that overheated was the reported cause that filled the Center with the smell of smoke. No one was evacuated from the building, however more than 20 patients were taken to another room as a precaution until firefighters cleared the scene.
