MARINA GUN AND DRUG ARREST 08-25-10 10:30 a.v.
A Salinas man was taken into custody last night in Marina after a machine gun was found inside of his vehicle. 20-year old Casey Vargas was stopped for a routine traffic stop just before 6 p.m. after an officer first spotted Vargas in front of a home, where drug activity is known to take place, on the 300 block of Crescent Avenue. After a search of the vehicle, the officer found pieces of a firearm that when assembled formed a machine gun, along with morphine, ammunition and illegal fireworks. Vargas was booked into the Monterey County Jail on gun and drug charges.
