KERN AND CONTRA COSTA COUNTY FIRES 08-25-10 06:00 a.v.

Several fires broke out yesterday in the hills of California stretching from north to south due to high temperatures and dry brush. In Kern County, a wildfire, known as the “Post Fire” is burning out of control in the northwest area of Los Angeles, West of Highway I-5. Over 1,300 acres have burned since it was 1st reported at 12:15 p.m. yesterday, right now 40 to 50 structures are being threatened. About 500 firefighters are on scene from multiple agencies, and an evacuation order that was in place yesterday, has been lifted.

In Contra Costa County, the “Curry Fire”, also broke out yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m. between Clayton and Black Hawk on Curry Canyon Road and Morgan Territory Road. The fire is 80-percent contained and has burned 375 acres. No structures are being threatened and no injuries have been reported in either fire.
