Monterey Bay Sardines Study 08/24/10 0800 E.A.
Local fisherman will be assisting a team of scientists in conducting a study of sardine populations along the west coast. Two fishing boats and a small plane from Watsonville will be used in a large-scale study of the sardine populations in order to help the fisheries industry better regulate fishing seasons. The survey will photograph transects at 15-mile intervals from Washington state to San Diego.
