PRUNEDALE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 08-20-10 08:30 a.v.

A stretch of Highway-101 known as “Blood Alley” is slated to receive an upgrade as part of a state improvement project. The California Transportation Commission unanimously approved allocating 91.3 million dollars towards the Prunedale Improvement Project, which calls for 2 new interchanges, an overpass and a median barrier along a stretch of the highway north of Salinas. The project will include 2 interchanges at the north and south ends of the stretch of highway, including Crazy Horse Canyon and Echo Valley Roads, and Russell and Espinosa Roads, as well as an overpass at Blackie and Reese Roads. Construction of the 4-year project, is expected to start next April.
