CHILDREN HURT IN HIGH SPEED CRASH 08-18-10 10:40 a.v.

2 young children suffered minor injuries after crashing into an embankment when a 21-year old Salinas man tried evading officers during a high speed chase this week.  Police say Mario Gabriel was taken into custody just before 7 p.m. Monday after driving up to 110 miles per hour from River Road to Highway 101 and to Alisal and Williams Roads with his 5-year old stepson and 16-month old son in the backseat of the car. Gabriel, who is suspected of driving under the influence, sped from officers while running stop signs, red lights, along with passing cars on the right side of the road prior to crashing.
