A stretch of Highway 101 known for numerous fatal accidents is scheduled for a nearly 100-million dollar improvement project. The California Transportation Commission unanimously approved the funding to improve the section of Highway 101 that runs through the Prunedale area. The project calls for two new interchanges, an overpass, and a median barrier. Officials are saying the Prunedale Improvement Project is the largest such project in regional history. Construction is expected to begin in April.
