S.C. RAIL LINE DEADLINE 08-13-10 11:10 a.v.

Santa Cruz County has 3 months to meet remaining conditions to secure state funding for it’s Union Pacific rail line purchase. The California Transportation Commission agreed this week to receive the remaining terms by November to ensure 10.2 million dollars of state transit money towards buying the 32-mile rail line, which is expected to run from Davenport to Watsonville. The primary term for the county yet to meet is securing a contract with Sierra Northern Railway to run excursion trains from Santa Cruz to Davenport, one of the requirements added by the state commission in June to receive Proposition 116 funds towards purchase of the line.
