2 farm-worker families lost everything after a fire destroyed a 2-unit duplex at a Watsonville Migrant Center this morning. Fire crews responded to the Buena Vista day labor camp on the 100 block of Tierra Alta Drive at around 11 a.m. The fire reportedly started in a 3-bedroom unit rented by a family of 5. Crews from the Santa Cruz County Red Cross were at the scene of the fire to provide relief. No one was injured in the blaze, which drew firefighters from multiple agencies. The cause of the blaze, which was contained just before noon, remains under investigation.
