19 horses are currently recovering after having been found abandoned in South Monterey County. SPCA Investigators responded to an area in Paris Valley in San Ardo last week after someone reported the abandoned horses. After one horse was rescued Friday, volunteers returned over the weekend with water and discovered 18 more horses left in the wild to survive. The horses were loaded into trailers today, and are expected to go up for adoption in a few months after they recover. The horses, meanwhile, will stay with the SPCA while a criminal investigation continues.
