A 2-million dollar grant was awarded Friday to a Salinas carmaker to help increase it’s production of electric cars. The company, Green Vehicles was awarded the grant by the California Energy Commission to help the company complete the move from it’s previous manufacturing operations in Gilroy to it’s new 80,000 square-foot location at the Firestone Business Park in Salinas. The new funding will help hire additional personnel and acquire needed equipment. The company announced it’s move to Salinas last October, it’s expected to fully move into it’s new location within a month.
