Poaching, MCO 8/1/10 11:20 p.m. TDH

2-Coalinga men were stopped by authorities in South Monterey County on Friday, after they were allegedly poaching.  The 2-men were seen in a car on the side of Highway-25, about 2-miles south of Lewis Creek.   Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies say the 2-men were in possession of multiple firearms, hunting knives, field-dressing kits, and other items consistent with poaching.   The 2-maintain they were scouting the area for when deer season legally opens.  The case has been forwarded to the Monterey County District Attorney’s office. The citation comes in an area of Highway-25 that has seen increased poaching of deer.
