A woman who was taken into custody in Salinas today(wed) has been released, after police say her killing of a boyfriend this morning was in self-defense. The 25-year-old victim was found at 9 a.m. this morning by officers on patrol near lower Soledad street. Minutes after they found the man, (who was still alive at the time), a 9-1-1 call was received from a woman who reported the domestic dispute. Officers took her into custody at her north main street house. Meanwhile, the victim was air-lifted to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. However, investigators discovered the woman had visible injuries, and believe that she was fearing for her life and acted in self-defense. No charges will currently be filed, though the district attorney’s office has been forwarded the case for review. The victim’s name has not been released.
