Governor schwarzenegger issued an executive order today, re-starting unpaid furlough days for thousands of state employees. Employees in departments that collect revenue will not be furloughed, nor will about 37-thousand members of a 6-unions. The order instructs other state employees to take 3-days-off every month, starting next month. It is unclear how long the furloughs will last, and a state budget still has not been passed. Last year, to address budget shortages, state employees took a total of 46-days off, amounting to a 14-percent pay cut.
