The monterey county board of supervisors yesterday approved emergency funding to address leaking air-conditioners in the salinas courthouse. The north wing of the courthouse has been under construction for more than 5 years, and the superior court is scheduled to move into the building in october. Officials still hope to meet that deadline, after leaking air-conditioners were discovered last week during a testing of the building’s equipment. The emergency funds are earmarked to come out of the county’s general fund, rather than the project’s construction costs, which have grown to over 71-million dollars.
