A representative for Santa Cruz County officials is reminding the public that city ordinances are enforceable on county property in that city. The release is in response to activists who have been camping on county property, including the steps on the county courthouse. They are, in part, protesting the city of Santa Cruz’s ban on sleeping in public. Campers have maintained that city codes are not enforceable on county property, however county officials are warning that that is incorrect, and campers can be cited and prosecuted.
