CA employee pay 7/16/10 TDH

The on-going battle over how much some California employees will be paid this month took another turn today(fri).     A Superior Court judge ruled that the governor’s order to pay nearly 200-thousand public employees the federal minimum wage would cause too much harm to those employees, and rejected the administrations request for a restraining order against the state controller, who had refused to comply with the order.   That means the state employees will be paid their normal wages for July and for August, however today’s ruling allowed the governor’s lawsuit to continue, which could reduce the pay beyond August.  The effort to temporarily pay state workers minimum wage is in response to the failure of law-makers to pass a state budget on time.
