State education officials announced today that the California Department of Education is releasing 34-million dollars of federal funds to more than 1-thousand schools around the state. The list includes several schools in the Monterey Bay area. The awards include roughly 115-thousand dollars to distribute among 6 Santa Cruz County schools, about total of 260-thousand dollars to 19 Monterey County schools, as well as 24-thousand dollars to 4 San Benito County schools, and about 650-thousand dollars to 30 schools in Santa Clara County.
